At the Labour Conference, Mr Will Thorue. Socialist member for West Ham, during a stormy meeting, repudiated Mr Philip Snowden's allegations that the Parliamentary Labour Party had become the blind tools of the Government.

The Hon. A. Henderson, who renrcsents Labour in the Cabinet, said lie bad intended to remain silent, but for a challenge by Mr llellainy that, a man connected with the party bad either to obey its decision or get out. J!' that was tlie conference's decision, it was a dangerous doctrine. Since December lo to the end of last week 113,987 single men had enlisted. If that rate continued for six weeks, it would probably realise the hope that the Mil'itarv Servico Act would be rendered a dead letter. An amendment, was being accepted in the Bill which ought to'satisfy every impartial mind because the last shred of fear of industrial compulsion would vanish. ,
