The Labour Conference passed a resolution, by an overwhelming majority, approving the action of the Parliamentary Labour Party in co-oper-ating, in tne recruiting movement. A delegate declared that if some Independent Labour Party leaders Tiad co-operated ■in the movement earlier, compulsion weuld not have been necessary. • Mr Wallhead, another delegate, protested against compulsion, and said if the ■β-overnmeut could not get men the only alternative was to commence to consider peace. This was met with loud cries of dissent and some of approval.
