An American, returned from Germany, states it is estimated that at present there are seven million men in the German army and another three millions training. The 1915 class (boys of 17 years) has not yet been called.
; Professor Arnold, speaking at a Sheffield meeting of the Royal Institution, said he Avas sorry to confess that shortly before the Avar the managing director of Krupp's told him they were making steel ingots of 110 tons for gun_ by a crucible process evolved by an Englishman. German newspapers report a debate in the Reichstag over the demands of the Conservatives aud Socialists ,for substantial territorial expansion as the prices of Germany's victory. Herr Liebknecht, the Socialist leader, strongly opposed this. The debate revealed an unmistakable breach amongst the Socialists and other parties. Rome, June.3. Tho S'ecolo states that King Emma- i uuel has offered to mediate between: Russia and Rumania in regard to disputed territory. London, June 3. I The Hon. Thomas Mackenzie handed the Belgian committee £24,260, of Avhich £15,000 Avas the Government's May contribution. The balance was from other relief funds. All Antwerp newspapers have decided to discontinue publication oAving to the severity of German censorship. Belgan aviator's have flown oyer the greater part of Belgium, dropping leaflets addressed to the people ol Belgium and the German soldiers, stating that Italy has gone against Austro-Germany aud that more than a million Italians are fighting for the cause of liberty.
