A German official report states that strong French forces attempted to break the lines north of Arras and Bois lePretre. An offer made by the NeAv Zealand Pharmacy Board to provide the lvhole equipment for the dispensary and surgical department on board the Hospital Ship ha s been accepted. It is estimated that £1700 --will be required. Subscriptions taken up among Auckland chemists have already provided £325 of that sum. Christchurch, June 1. Mr W. Clarke has given 100 Kaiapoi rugs for the Hospital Ship and the Kaiapoi Woollen Company has given 50 rugs. New Plymouth, June 1. _ Donation lists for the Hospital Ship show that Taranaki has contributed well over £3000, of Avhich New Plymouth has provided about £1300. CHANCE FOR CIVILIANS.
