LYCEUM THEATRE
A great holiday attraction is advertised for to-night and to-monw at tho Lyceum Theatre. As announced in last night's Star, the patriotic demonstration -will leave Stafford street for the Lyceum at 7.30, and on arlival there Colonel Porter and others will address tho crowd from the balcony. -In order that everyone may bo present at tho demonstration tho picture programme Avill not commence until after tho demonstration has concluded. Special and elaborate lighting and decorating effects are being carried out by the Lyceum Co. in honour of Feilding's greatest function.
The picture list is a lengthy one, and includes a great naval picture of ivirelcss and Avarfare entitled "Tho Reader of Minds," somo splendid comedies, including a Keystone and tho latest Topical War Gazette, Avhich is brimful of interest, and includes, On the River Maas, Austrian Engineers building a bridgo across tho river Mass, uoav army making themselves efficient Avith tho rifle, Red Cross dogs, Christmas church parade, Christmas at the front, Tommy's Christmas present, out of the trenches, pa.times at tho front. There will be a special'patriotic matineo tomorroAV afternoon at 2.30, and a greatholiday programme Avill bo screened in tho evening.
HUGARD AND CHING SUNG LOO
At the Drill Hall on Tuesday, Juno 8, tho above magicians and supporting artists will present a programme of mystery, music, novelty, and sensation. Tho company has recently concluded seasons of seven nights in Christchurch and Dunedin, to enormous business. Several new artists havo been engaged einco Hugard's visiMior'e somo tAvo years back. Ncav magical surprises have also been secured. Hugard and Ching are not only clever magicians, but they also create plenty of fun. Tho Chinese act of Ching Sung Loo introduces many bewildering surprises, Avhile Hugard's bullet catching feat is decidedly sensational. There arc sca'cii continental artists supporting these two great magicians, including ChiA'alli and his dogs. Tho box plan is at Bissett's.
