The Daily Mail says the Germans are using a new combination shell. Its simple manipulation enables it to l>e used a s shrapnel (scattering small or large fragments) or as a high explosive shell. The most remarkable effect can be given by its high penetrative power, and its exploding four seconds after penetration. The shell is thus able to pierce a barricade and explode within the trench. ■
