FIVE MORE AWARDS. [ London, April 19. Victoria Crosses have been awarded I as follows:— Private Barber, of the First Grenadiers.—He ran ahead of a grenade company at Neuve Chapelle and threw bombs with such effect that a very great number of the enemy immediately surrendered. When his comrades came up -Barber was alone, and'the enemy were surrendering all ' around. J Lance-Corporal Fuller, of the Ist I Gienadiers.—Being quite alone and I seeing the enemy escaping from a , communication trench at Neuve I Chapelle, he rushed forward and killjcd the leader with a bomb. Fifty [ others, seeing that it was impossible to evade the bombs, surrendered. Lieut. Cyril Martin, of the Engineers, at Spanbroekmolen, on March 12 though wounded, led a grenade party to the German trenches and held back reinforcements for two and a-half hours. Private Henry May, of the Ist I Cameronians.—At La Boutillerie,- on October 22, volunteered to rescue the wounded under heavy fire, and carried an officer a distance of three hundred yards. Private Toller ton. of the Ist Cameron ian Highlanders.--On September It. on the Aisne, carried a wounded officer to a place of greater safety. When the battalion retired Tollertoh, though wounded, returned to the officer, and lay beside him for three days, when both were rescued.
