Feilding Star. Oroua and Kiwitea Counties' Gazette TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 1915. THE POLITICAL POSITION
Is there any? The two parties are still marking time, waiting to hear the verdict of the Electoral Court on the three seats in dispute. It looks as if session time will arrive before the verdicts. Meantime, Air Massey is so busily engaged getting his policy measures ready that he cannot spare a month or three weeks off to cross Tasnian Sea to pay a friendly call upon Australian Premiers, who are holding out the large glad hand of fellowship and welcome. Air Holuiaii says any member of the New Zealand Cabinet will be gladly welcomed lo the conference. By the way, why not send either Air Allen or Mr Herdman, especially Air Allen, who has been carrying a very heavy burden since the war began. And "when our Parliament meets in June next, will the Opposition follow tlie advice of its Chief Whip? Mr G. AY. Forbes gave it out as his conviction tlie other day that party politics should not exist during the continuance of the war, and that throughout this period of crisis tlie Massey Government should be left in undisturbed possession of the Treasury benches. Of course, tliat involves a quid pro quo on Air Massey's part—no controversial legislation.
