Mr J. A. Matheson was in Feilding to-day arranging for the appearance of Miss Florence. Young and her company in "The Climax," ' a musical play, next Wednesday.
Cable advice received from England indicates that Mr B. E. Murphy. M.A., LL.B., of Feilding, has passed the second section of the degree of Bachelor of Commerce.
The triennial conference of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants re-elected Mr W. T. Wilson, of Palmerston, president for the ensuing three years. Mr Chas. E. Wheeler, of Wellington, was re-ap-pointed editor of the Railway Review, the Society's journal.
Mr George M. Dorney, whose death occurred at his residence, Lower Hutt, on Tuesday, was an old settler in New Zealand. He was a native of Ireland, To years of age, and went out to Victoria when he. was a young man. A great many years ago he settled in" Southland, "and subsequently lived in Christchurch, where he stood a s a candidate for Parlianieut in the interests of the late Sir George Grey, the then Premier, but was defeated by a narrow majority.
