BOWLING.

ON THE FEILDING GREEN

AN INTERESTING TIME

Coming Events for Players. The Committee of the Feilding Club deserves the best thanks of members for having arranged the best holiday programme in the history of the club. The Christmas and New Year holidays (four days in all) are filled with cobtests. Already the board contains numerous names for the Progressive Pairs tourney to be held all day next Friday. On Boxing Day a force of Eeildingitos invade Marlon. On January 1 and 2 visiting players arc to invade the Feilding green. An Enjoyabfe Saturday, On Saturday last there was a full green, the rinks being for the mostpart occupied in club competitions. The weather was ideal, and play was indulged in from 2 to 7 p.m." Handicap Pairs. One of the finest games over .seen on any green was that between the Bartholomew brothers and James and Room. It was a ding-dong game, and anybody's right up to John Bartholomew's iast shot. James got home by 21 to 19. The heat between Goodbehere and Foote and Mills and f'ulpitt was also a close contest, ending in a win for Mills by 22 to 17. This is the first defeat met with by the. f"iod- obehere combine. This contest is now in an interesting position. James is leading in his section, whilst Mills and Goodbehere are on the same mark (4 wins, 1 loss each) in their section. They will play off, and the winner will probably have to meet tho JamesRoom team, unless James has losses in his next two heats, which would bring the Lines Joucs-Hnybitlle pair into the contest. Colts' Handicap Singles, Snoad beat Downer, Kobmson beatMcDonald, Robinson beat Harford. The Wishart Feathers. These still adorn Palmerston hatsA Feilding rink—Ha v bit tie, Oakley. Garrett, McQueen (s.) —played "a, challenge game on Saturday against an all-skip Palmerston rink—-Mowlem, Shep. Dixon, Morris, J. Nash (s.)~who overpowered Ihe challengers. The ono bright ray (and hooray) in the Feilding bight was a bead of <! which McQueen got in.
