THE RUSSIANS.
EVACUATION OF LODZ. (Received Dec. 10, "9.15 a.m.) Paris, December 9. A communique on the French operations adds that the -Russians repulsed obstinate attacks on the AloffLowicz and Strykoff-Lodz lines, but they evacuated Lodz because the position formed a salient.
(Received December 10, 9.15 a.m.) Petrograd, December 9. Official.—Fighting has developed at Prasr.ysz and Zlachunown, between Warsaw and Mlava, and is not yet finished. We had partial successes iv the Piotrkow region. The hattle began on the sth south-east of Cracow, between Wielicza and the Denjutz river, is developing in our favour. Our reinforcements gallantly loreed a passage over the river near Neusandel, and severely defeated the German right wing, which was trying to turn our left. The Germans suffered enormous losses. Our offensive continues.
The lireslau (consort of the Goeben) appeared off Sebastopol. Our cruisers and aeroplanes attacked the vessel, nhich disappeared.
