LYTTON STREET SCHOOL.

The Committee of the Lytton street School met last night, when the following 'members were present; Messrs J. W. Bramwell (Chairman), Jas. Trewin, B. W. Bradley, W. J, Hicks, W. Bramwell, jun., and J. Fergusson. An apology for npn-attendanpe was received from Mr W. H. Groube. Letters were received from the Education Board, regarding school buildings, proficiency examination, and the use of school building for election poll. All accounts were passed for payment. The Headmaster reported the number on school roll to be 265, with an average attendance of 253.5. The report of the annual school examination by Inspectors Stewart and Strong was read and considered very satisfactory. The Inspectors referred again to the nne tone existing throughout the school, and gave credit to the-teaching staff for efficient and thorough work during the year. The Committee resolved to place qn record its high appreciation of the services rendered by Mr Stewart and the members of his staff. It was decided that in view of the many urgent calls on the parents for patriotic and relief objects, no appeal for the prize fund will be made this year, but suitable award cards will be prepared and wiven to pupils winning Ist and 2nd positions in each class. Mr J. W. Bramwell agreed to provide a. gold medal for the dux of the school, and Mrs Bramwell offered a special prize for sewing. It was decided to send to the Relief Committee for the _ assistance of the poor of Great Britain, Ireland, and Belgium the sum of £6 6s 3d which was subscribed by the children and their parents in excess of tbe amount paid for a troop horso which the school presented to tho main expeditionary force. The total amount raised by the school for the troop horse and relief fund was £25 6s 3d.
