Copenhagen, October 2. Sixty thousand German wounded have reached Cologne, where the Exhibition and other public buildings have been converted into hospitals. Machine guns are mounted in tho Cathedral and on the roofs of hotels. Tho public are panicky, fearing attacks from the air. Borne, October 2. A telegram states that Germany is making a supreme effort to face Russia and raise the prestige of the Austria! army. All tho Bohemian and Moravian railways are congested with the traffic of troops and war material, to prevent an invasion of Silesia. London, October 2. Advices from Petrograd state that a million Russians, with powerful artillery, are advancing towards Cracow, whither General Hindenburg lias been recalled from Bast Prussia .to assume command of tho Anstro-Ger-man forces. It is officially announced from Vienna that the Austro-German army defending Cracow numbers 2,500,000. (Received Oct. 3, 8.45. a.m.) Cairo, October 2. . Sir John Maxwell, commanding the army of occupation, has- ordered the Germans and Austro-Hungarians in Egypt to register before the 10th inst,, and to obey the conditions under which' they are to be allowed to remain; otherwise they will be arrested. Tho Cologne Gazette, in urging subscriptions to the war loan, says: "If Germany goes under, our fortunes and property will be lost."
