LESSONS IN WARFARE.
London, September 21. The ground in front of the British trenches is strewn with dead. Each attack strengthened the lesson of the folly of _ attempting to rush entrenched British.
The enemy in a night attack made an effort to pierce the line covering In the tremendous rain it was impossible to see more than a yard or two. The British were asleep, but the outposts gave timely warning, and a hot fire thinned the advancing line, and the bayonet put the issue beyond doubt.
