PUSH OF THE GENTLE MUSH.

A curious growth of mushrooms may be seen in Tonkinson's engineering shop in Dunedin (says the Star). The floor of tke shop is laid down in asphalt, and has a thickness of fully three inches. Yet despite so stony an obstacle, several mushrooms, from two to three inches in diameter, have forceu themselves up into the light of day. The asphalt in the near vicinity oi r the mushrooms looks very much' as if a pick had been at work, and it seems hardly credible that the tender and succulent mushroom possess, ed such a, forcing strength as is displayed.
