HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE.
Wellington, March 16. Following is the High Commissioner's cable from.London, dated March 14 :— Mutton. —Market firm. North Island 41d. The demand-is chiefly for light weight at as high as 4|d. Dull sale for heavy carcases at 4£d. Lamb.—Good demand for all lamb, but prices have slightly declined for all grades on account of the large supplies coming forward. Canterbury twos 6sd, heavy weights 6fd,. other than Canterbury 6£d. Beef.—Market very dull on account of supplies of American chilled beef being large, but there is no change in prices. New Zealand hinds 4Jd, fores 4d; chilled hinds sd, fores 33d. Butter.—Market dull and prices irregular. Danish 121s to 1245. New Zealand 110s to 114s, Australian 108s to 112s, Argentine 108s to Ills, Siberian 108s to 112s. Cheese.—Market steady at a - decline. ■ Canadian market slow. White 68s to 70s, coloured 70s to 71s. ]Sev>' Zealand in fair demand. White 62s to 635-6 d, coloured 64s 6d to 65s 6d. Australian white 62s to 62s 6d, coloured 63s to 655. Hemp.—Market somewhat steadier and more demand. New Zealand good fair pei" ton £25, fair £2 210s. April to June shipments good fair £25 15s, fair £22 15s. The quantity in stock at the end of February was 1652 tons. Manila fair current £26 10s in all positions. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales.
■ Sisal.—Market quiet at £26 10s. Wheat.—The market has declined by 3d per quarter.
