Feilding Star. Oroua & Kiwitea Counties' Gazette. SATURDAY, MARCH 14, 1914. Board of Agriculture.

Quite unconsciously, probably, Premier Massey is following the example of Mr Seddon —he is letting out State secrets before small gatherings in lonely places. Over in Havelock, away up at the head of picturesque Pelorus Sound — where the Hon. Charles Mills comes from —Mr Massey has been telling a gathering of farmers what he would not divulge before he left Wellington the other day: thenames oi the Government nominees other than Mr J. .6. Wilson (the President) to the Board of Agriculture. As we anticipated, Mr "Edwin Hall, ex-Secretary of the Auckland A- and P. Association — a theorist of the theorists—has been chosen to represent the northern city. As was also generally expected, Mr John Grigg, of Longbeach, one of the most experienced farmers in tbe South Island, has been appointed to represent Cantrbury, and has accepted the VicePresidency of the Board. Mr Massey has one more appointment to make, and he intimated at Havelock that the last man in would be a fruit-grower—a very wme step, in view of the developments of that industry and the Government's expressed desire to help it along. Minus the missing fruit man and plus the names above mentioned, the Board of Agriculture will be composed of: Mr R. Reynolds (Cambridge), Mr R. Dingle (Stratford),. Mr E. Averill (Dannevirke), Mr W. Perry (Masterton), Mr D. D. Macfarlane (Waiau, Canterbury), Mr A. S. Orbell (Waikouaiti, Otago), Mr W. D. Hunt (Waikiwi, Southland), and a Marlborough" delegate (not yet appointed).
