Auckland, March 9. At the last and clearing wool sale of the season to-day 1836 bales were offered. The greater portion was of moderate and poor quality. Competition was keen, January prices being well maintained and in some cases at a slight .advance. An exceptionally good clearance of all ewes was effected. The following is the range of prices: Fine halfbred Merino lOd to fine crossbreds 10_d, lid;-me. dium crossbreds 9-_d, 10Jd; coarse crossbred 9jd; inferior, Bd, 9d; pieces, 6d, 7d; crutchings, 6id, 7_d; locks, 4d, sd; lambs, superior, lOd. The grain market has been faiijy active during the week, and full 10,----000 sacks of .-wheat have changed hands! The demand has hardened the maiket somewhat, and up to 3s Bsd was given for velvet, and 3s 8d for Tuscan at . country stations. The prces are as follow: Velvet 3s Bd, Tuscan 3s 7(1 and 3s red chaff 3s 7_d and 3s 7d, and 3s 9Ad for Marshall's white. ■ all net. A fair amount of business has been done in oats, though the offerings are not large; ls 8d has been given for good quality Gartens, for immediate delivery. The prices are: A grade Oartons Is* 7crai_d ls 7_d, 11 grade Gartons ls 6d and Is 6_d, all net. Duns l.t-ve sold at Is 8d and Algerians at Is 7d tor good. A sale of malting barley is reported at 3s net, aud another at 3s, loss commission. Ryecorn was sold a.t : from" 2s 3d to 2s 6d. /v ni.. c.can sample of cocksfoot soil at 4d per lb.
