KOWHAI PARK.

Our attention has been called to the state of Kowhai Park, or that portion of it which the Beautifying Society spent such a large sum of money iij improvements. The cairns need the application of th© scythe, and the garden plots are becoming smothered in weeds. The surface of the ornamental lake is becoming lower every day, owing to the water having been cut off. While sympathising with the Council staff in regard to the amount of work they are asked to do, and the constant call on th e finances, we might suggest that a- day or two be given to the Park. The water service is being severely taxed just now, but a flow of an hour or two a day into the lake would satisfy its requirements.
