COLONIAL STOCKS
BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH COPYRIGHT. Times—Sydney Sun Special Cables. PEB PBESB ASSOCIATION. (Received Mar. 9, 8 a.m.) London, March 8. The Times, in a leader, says it is being recognised more widely day by day that while colonial stocks afford security equivalent for all practical purposes to consols, they yield considerably more interest and possess the quality of being redeemable within fixed terms, instead of an option of the Government of the day. An important development has been the establishment of 4 per cent, as the general rate payable by the dominions on their longterm stocks.
