REFORM YEAR BOOK.
The "Reform Year Book," edited by Mr E. C. Huie, journalist, Christchurch, and published by the national executive of tho New Zealand Reform League, is a very useful and much-needed The editor states that tho main object, in bringing out the book is "to provide, in a concise and accessible form, some political information likely 'to bo of use to those supporters of the party who are actively interesting themselves in the return of Reform canditates to Parliament." It is thus frankly a party publication, the method adopted being similar to that adopted by the compilers of the English party year-books. In spite oi its strong party tinge, the merits of this little book of 11G pages cannot be gainsaid. It contains a concise biography of members of Parliament; Parliamentary procedure and elections are explained, and lists of Parliaments and Prime Ministers from the establishment of responsible government in 1856 are given. A brief summary of the Acts placed on the Statute Book in the session of 1912 follows; then there are statistices of receipts and expenditure for tho years 1902-12, local government finance 1903-12; the value of capital and unimproved lands, 1903-12, and number of persons and cost of public service, 191)7-12. A short bibliography for the use of political students is an interesting feature; while the votes recorded for members at the four general elections, 1902, 1905, 1908, and 1911, will be of great servico to the average man, as well as the student and prospective candidate.
