The party 'left later for Wanganui. SCHOOL MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS. Timaru. October 14. A deputation from the local branch of the Teachers' Institute waited on the Education Board to-day to point out difficulties iii. the Avay of carrying out the medical examination of children. A large amount of time Avould bo required for the examination and clerical Avork and there would be a difficulty in one-room schools. To make an examination properly a pupil must be partly stripped and male teachers cannot strip big girls nor female'teachers big boys. The Board decided to hold the matter over, as the demands on the teachers' time Avould appear to be excessive. POST AND TELEGRAPH SERVICE. Wellington, October 14. The Post and Telegraph Department classification list Mas issued this afternoon in a Supplementary Gazette. The schedules of salaries tor the professional, clerical and general divisions prefixed to the list show the fixed annual increments of officers in the diffiereiit classes of each division. The Public Service Commissioner in a preparatory note states that any officer dissatisfied -Avith the classification may forward an appeal in terms of section 31 of the Act. Any appeal likely- to reach Wellington later than thirty days after to-day (October 14th) must be accompanied by evidence showing that the list was I not in the appellants' hands more than thirty days before posting of the appeal to the Commissioner. .
