Lord Hugh Cecil, speaking at Ormskirk, said Mr Lloyd George had neglected to apply the true principles of economics to his 'theories, which were only advanced to catch votes. The Unionists Avere prepared to deal with the problem in a more practical way. He said ho hoped it Avas not true that Sir liufus Isaacs Avas about to .succeed Lord Alverstono as Lord Chief Justice. Such an appointment, after tho recent Marconi scandal, would be an outrage.
At the Single Taxers' Conference at Cardiff Mrs Wedgwood, wife of ilie member for Newcastle, threw the conference into confusion by attack- - "" ing Mr Lloyd George's land policy ami the Liberal Party's cat-and-mouso Act. Mr Wedgwood himself, Avho is President of the English League for tlie Ta-xatiun of Land Values, added that many of them would agree that , ■the Chancellor's speech outlined no; practical definite programme.
