The second series of the season's wool sales under the auspices of the Napier Wool Brokers' Association was held here to-day before a large and representative attendance. A record number of bales, 26,751, was- submitted, compared with 21,055 of January last year. Bradfield wools wero keenly sought, and realised satisfactory prices; but American buyers ; were not operating freely, and wools . suitable for that market showed a ; decline of }d and 2|d per lb. Lambs' . wool sold extremely well. Bellies and pieces also cause good competition. i The appended figures show the gauge .of prices, the figures for the corresponding sale of last year being given in parenthesis: — Best halfbreds 12Ad to 133 d to 13d), medium 10-J-d to 12d (10$ d to ll|d); fine crossbred lid to 123 d (103 dto medium 93d to 103 d (9d to coarse 9d to lOd (7£d to B|d), inferior B|d to 9d (7d to 7i); pieces 7d to 93 (6d to 9*d); bellies 63d to 8d (s}d to 7|d); locks [ 5d to s*d (3id to 4*d); lambs' B|d > to 12_;d (6id to lid); dead 7Jd to i 93d (7 to 10i-d).
