London, Sept. 23. Mr Astley was wealthy, having inherited Sir John Astley's fortune. He married May Kinder, the actress. When he realised he had lost control of the machine and that an accident was certain he frantically waved the onlookers to move, turned the machine, and just cleared the crowd.
