New York, June 5. A lively encounter occurred to-day at Newark, New Jersey, where a strike at a' railway labourers' camp is now in progress.
Resenting the introduction of ■strike breakers, the .wives of the navvies vigorously assailed the non-uu-ionists, .and'tihe rioting eventually became* so serious that the police were I compelled to fire on the participants.
Two persons, a woman and a boy, were killed, and tivo otihers were, seriously wounded.

Oner of the* policemen that liad had the woman in custody was seriously injured through being stabbed.
