CR. BRYCE RESIGNS.

Mr L. T .McLean, a member of the Pakihikura deputation which waited on the Kiwitea County Council on Saturday, stated he had been prevented by an informality from contesting the election with Or. Bryce. He challenged Cr Bryce to resign now and contest the riding election with him. At the end of tho Council meeting Cr. Bryce tendered liis resignation as a, member. He stated it was clear from the petition which had been presented that he did not possess the confidence of the ratepayers, and therefore could not represent them on the council. He was not resigning because he had been heat-en. All the Councillors expressed regret at the resignation, and pressed Or. Bryce to withdraw it. He said his mind was made up, and he could not do other, wise than resign.
