YESTERDAY'S SPORTS. ' Despite tho boisterous weather yesterday, there was a largo attendance at thu eighth annual sports meeting of tho Rongotea District Athletic Club. Over £16 was taken at the gates, only a few shillings less than cno sum taken at the previous meeting. There was a large nuiriber of acceptances for most of the events, and as the handicapping had been done by Mr J. Collingwood, the contests were keen. Messrs J. MclvelO'Kcilly were the judges for the pevie, J. McCo'll, W. Baylis, and Al. destrian .events, Messrs W. Anion and T. Cameron in the horse events, ' and Mr J. H. Whisker was starter — a good combination. Mr F. H. Lindop did tho secretarial duties most satisfactorily, with Mr H. It. Russell .as an able assistant. Messrs \V. Phillips, T. Hammond, R. Hammond, J. Pcnney, and other members of tho committeo wero helpers, and the net result of tho efforts of the whole was a good day's sport for the public. The following were the results -. — !
