M Addingtou there were large entries of stock in consequence of its being a double market. The demands for fat stock was good to meet the butchers' requiromc nts for Christmas and New Year.
Sheep.—The yarding of store sheep was somewhat larger than of hinc and the hulk consisted of wethers, most of which were four and. six tooths. The balance o£ the. yarding consisted principally of aged ewes with lambs. The demand was very brisk for all classes and a good clearance.', was effected at improved prices. Shorn four tooth ewes made lb's lid, 2->tooths 13s lid to 15s 6d, aged ewes with lambs 9s 6d to 10s, all counted two and four tooth ewes 14s 9d, four, six •and eight tooth 12s to 12s 7d, forward for and six tooth we'hers 14s 6d to 15s 10d, others 13s 6d to 14s, two tooths in low condition 10s Bd. aged woolly ewes with- lambs 8s lid, dry Merino gavcs 6s 3d, woolly liosgets to 15s 9d.
Fat Lambs.—The yarding of fat lambs was a heavy one for the time of year, 'totalling 3266, and the quality was exceptionally good. In addition to the consignments from near farms on the Plains there were large numbers from North Canterbury and especially from Cheviot and Omihi districts. There was keen demand both for local consumption and export and prices for prime lambs -were even better than the week before. The best lambs ranged from los to 19s, •and lighter 12s 3d to 14s 9d.
Fat Sheep.—The range of prices was prime wethers 17s 6d to -2s Gd, wethers 14s 9d to 17s, prime ewes 15s to 17s Cd, others 10s 9d to 14s 6d, Merino wethers los 6d.
Cattle.—The range of values was 25s 'to 28s per lOOlbs. Steers made £ 815s to £12 10s, heifers £5 17s 6d to £11 10s, and cows £4 5s to £9 7s Gd, veal calves 3s Gd to 665.
Store /Cajttle.—ls and 18-months 50s Gd to 60s, 2-year steers £4 4s to £4 10s, 2-year heifers £3 15s, heifers £4 9s to £5 Is (passed), 3year steers £G 5s to £ 6155, 3-year heifers £4 17s Gd to £5 ss, and dry cows 37s 6d to £4. Dairy cows sold at £4 10s to £10. Pigs.—Porkers easier. Choppers made 50 to £4, large, baconers 60 to 71s Gd, lighter 47s to 555, equal to okl to 5%d per lb, large porkers 34«, to 38s 6cl, smaller 27s to 325, equal j to o.kl to okl per lb. Store pigs wore easier in consequence of a large entry, large sorts making 27s to 32s Gd, smaller 22s to 265, and weancrs which sold .better, 10s Gd to 17s.
