POLITICAL NOTES.

MAORI ELECTIONS TO-DAY

The polling for the election- of members to represent the three Maori electoral districts (Hon. Mr Ngata lias been elected unopposed) will take place ito-day. Tbere are eleven candidates for the Northern Maori seat, including the former representative. Dr. To Rangihiroa (Dr. Buck), six for the A\ r estern district), and six for the Southern district. It is understood that all the candidates for the Northern and AVestern seats are supporters of the present Government. In the Southern district one candidate is opposed to the Governments Native policy as it affects the South, but it is assumed that he ie virtually a Government supporter.
