RELIGIOUS.
PRESBYTERY OF WANG AN UI. The above Presbytery met at Tura- j kinsv yesterday. Thero were present: ! Revs. Chisholm, Doull, J. D. McKenzie, J. Ross,- G. Budd, P. B. Eraser, J. Mackie, J. ±lal\, A. Porter, J. A. McKenzie, R. .McCully, and E. G. Evans, and Messrs Grundy, McGregor, McFarland, Matheson, R. D. Me-j Cully, 11. B. McKenzie, Martin, mid Bruce. Apologies for absence were received from Mr J. Edie, Rev. A. C llanderson, Mr J. Lambert. The Rev. A. Porter, of Marton, was elected Moderator for the ensuing six months. The Rev. J. Chisholm was appointed correspondent of the Outlook, viceRev. ! A. Morton, who has been traaslated to Lovell's Flat. The Rev. J. Ross was congratulated on being.well enough to attend the. Presbytery meeting. Mr J. Ross, M.A., student, was cordially welcomed as a visitor to the Presbytery. The Clerk reported that the Rev. G. K. Aitken had left Foxton for Methven and that the Rev. J. A. McKenzie be moderator of the vacancy at Foxton. It was agreed that a suitable minute anent Mr Aitken's, work in i<"oxton be recorded. The Presbytery granted power to Mr Walters, missionary at Rewa, to celebrate marriages and baptisms in his - district. The Presbytery proceeded to the ! licensing of Mr N". D. McKenzie, of Carnarvon, a student who has com- ; plcted iliis course. Reports on hisdis- :• courses were given and sustained, af- [ tor which Mr McKenzie was duly li- . censed. ; An application from Mr J. I). R. ■ Mtinro, of Palmerston, for a Presbyterial certificate was granted, he be- , ing about to his course as a student for the ministry. The records of congregations were submitted foi examination and were duly signed by the moderator. Mr James W. Passoy, of Tiakataliuna, made application for the usiial certificate to enable liirn to be received as a home missionary. It was decided to recommend JVIr Passey to place himself under the Rev. A. Douli for tuition aad encouraged to prepare himsslf tor the liome mission work. It_ was reported that Mr Cirundy, oi AVanganui East, had been received as a- missionary in full standing. He was granted ihe usual powers. The Rev. E. G. VEvans, Fordell, I was appointed treasurer of the rresbytery instead of Mr Aitken, resigned*. The Rev. P. B. Fraser, M.A., Home Mission Superintendeot, reported that he had visited Levin and '"Wanga-mi.i E. with very satisfactory results. Mr Fraser outlined a proposal to increase the circulation of the Outlook, the organ of the Presbyterian Church in New Zealand. He suggested that an effort bo made to get the Outlook into every Presbyterian home at least once a month. His suggestion was cordially agreed to. The Presbytery meets again at Palmerston on February 13, 1912.
