The Navy * Department denies exConsul Brice's statement that he was warned them of the intended t.estruction of the battleship Maine two days previous to the occurrence. Officials believe that the full facts of the disaster aro never likely to be disclosed. New York, Dec. 13.
Canaries, for testing the state of the atmosphere, were utilised at Gross Mountain Mine, and showed that *~o deadly gases were strong. A few more bodies have been recovered. The President of the American Live Stock Association urges a congressional investigation into the live stock and packing industries, alleging thai retailers are making huge profits at tho expense of the consumers.
