HAYDN'S "THE CREATION."
In the Christmas season there is always a call from the public for an oratorio, and there are two that are specially popular all over the British Empire, These are "The Messiah" and "The. Creation." The Feilding Choral Society has chosen "The' Creation" for this year's production, and it is to be given in the Lyceum Theatre next Friday evening. * The Society has spared no expense in tho engagement of soloists, and has been 'especially fortunate in getting three such gifted exponents of oratorio as Mr John Prouse, of Wellington, for the basso work, Mr Sydney Butler, a recent arrival from England, for the tenor solos, and Madame Emily Briggs as the soprano soloist. Mr Prouse will be heard in "Rolling in Foaming Billows" and •■On Mighty Pens;" Madame Briggs will havo that delightful and famous aria, "With Verdure Clad," in tho rendering of which she won first honours in a great contest in England; and Mi- Butler will be heard to advantage iv the beautiful air, "In Native Worth." These three great vocalists will also, be associated in several trios, notably that in the grand chorus, "The Heavens are Telling" and in "The Lord is Great."
