The Feilding Star. Oroua and Kiwitea Counties' Gazette. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 1911. Are Your Fire Plugs Clear?

Some time ago a suggestion was made in this column that (householders should keep the fire plugs clean and accessible in front of their respective α-esidences, so that the Fire Brigade should not be hindered in getting the water on should it be necessary on emergency. The Borough Council thought the suggestion a good one, and adopted it, asking the residents to carry it out. In. some cases this has been done, and the plugs left just as the Brigade would like to find them when required; but in many cases'no notice has been taken of the suggestion. it .is therefore, again brought under notice, that residents may not neglect to take precautions which would prove very necessary should the water be requited for fire-fighting purposes. Let each reader who is a householder put this question to himself: This is my "business, what liavo I done about it? Then go out at once and clear that plug.
