DELEGATION. OPENS CAMPAIGN
IN "WELLINGTON,
[PEE, PBESB , ASSOCIATION. ] "Wellington, May 3. The Irish. Homo Rule envoys opened their Now ZeaJland campaign here to-night, when Messrs Redmond and Hazelton, Ms.P. and Mr Donovan addressed about 2000 people in _the Town Ball, mayor Wili'ord presiding. Mr" Kazelton said a "Wellington newspaper had asked why they were hero for money. The answer was that £100,000 had been subscribed to fight Home Rule. They asked New Zealand to help to smash that £100,000 and keep their enemies on the run. "What the Irish people wanted was a parliament of their own, with executivle responsibility to_ ihavo full control of all purely Irish affairs subject to the supremacy of the Imperial r'arliament. The Hon. James Carrol, ActingPremier, moved a vote of thanks and spoke iv favour - of tho cause. Hon. 1. "W. Hislop seconded the motion, which was carried with, enthusiasm.
The sum of £700 for the funds was subscribed by the meeting.
