Blenheim, May 3. The Marlborough Racing Club's Cup meeting opened to-day in fine weather. Results: —

Maiden Hack. —Long Tom 1, Glenfern 2, Inveran 3. Six others started. Time, 1.3. Ugbrooke Welter, seven furlongs.— First Consul 1, Aimwell 2, Bracken 3. Scratched: Toanga, Ribbstou Pippin, Wild Bird, Succession. Time, 1.30. Opawa Welter, seven furlongs. — Negative 1, Astonishment 2, Icei 3. Scratched: Beacon, Daunton. Time, 1.31 1-5. Marlborough Cup, one mile and a quarter.—Gunboat i, Beacon 2, Directoire 3. Also started: Equitas, Merrie Zealand, Aimwell, Abberration, Kilosteri, Laius, and Hilarian. Directoire and Equitas led past the stand. Beacon lying third. At the four-furlong post Beacon went to the front. Ten lengths from home Gunboat came through and the pair fought out the finish, Gunboat winning by half a length. Equitas, who was favourite, finished in the ruck. Time, 2.8. Autumn Hack, six furlongs. — Ahuapai 1, Negative 2, Merrie 'lime 3. Time, 1.16 2-5. Flying Handicap), six furlongs.— Glenspring 1, .Merrie Frank 2, lied Lupin 3.
