At the Addington live stock market there wero moderate entries of ptock and a good attendance. Beef sold well. Store sheep were in good demand, especially for forward wethers. Fat lambs brought good prices, but fat sheep were a little easier. Fat pigs were firmer, and stores were weaker in demand. There was a dull sale .for store cattle, and dairy cow.s wore not in as good demand as of late. Tho yarding of store sheep was somewhat smaller than last week, and was principally made up of hoggets and wethers, with a few pens of ewes. There was a good demand at late rates and forward wethers were rather firmer.
Forward wethers made 15s 9d to 17s 7d. medium 14s 6d to 15s 3d, and low conditioned 13s 5d to 14s 2d. Good hoggets mado 13s 8d to 14s 3d, others 12s 9d to 13s 3d, and small and inferior 10s 6d to 12s. Two and fourloot h ewes in good condition 17s 6d, four, six and eight-tooth ewes in low condition 12s 6d, aged and low conditioned sorts with lambs 8s 2d to 8s od.
All counted, there wore 61 new season's fat lambs penned, and they met with a very good sale at prices ranging from 17s 6d to 20s 6d for best and 15s to 17s for smaller.
The yarding of fat sheep was larger than last wock by 1000 to 1500 head, and in the absence of outside competition it was thought that the supply was beyond tho requirements of the local trade and prices wero therefore easier at the opening of the sale, but firmed towards the close. Tbe yarding was made up principally of good to prime wethers, with a few pens of ewes and merino wethers. The range of prices was: Prime 20s to 265, lighter 16s 4d to 19s 7d. prime ewes ISs Id to 22s 9d, others "10s 9d to 14s 9d. hoggets 15s 6d to 19s Id, extra prime merino wethers 23s 3d to 25s 6d. prime 16s 2d to TBs 9d, lighter 13s 6d to 15s 3d.
There was an entry of 266 head of fat cattle of very good quality, dealers supplying the bulk of the yarding. There was a good demand, aiid prices were very firm. Steers made £7 us to £11. and extra to £13 ss, heifers £5 10s to £9. and extra to £10 ss, cows £5 5s to £8 10s and extra £10 10s. equal to 2Ss 6d to 30s for prime steers, medium quality 2Ss, and cows and inferior 24s to 27s per lOOlbs. A Hue of 32 steers from tho North Island made £11 10s Sd to £13 ss. averaging £12 lis. Teal calves brought 4s 6d to £2 2s 6d. A moderate yarding of store, cattle sold at rather easier rates. Yearlings made 42s 6d, 18-months 555, three-year steers £'5 lis. three-year heifers £5, aud dry cows 25s to £4 19s 6d, dairy cows £3 10s to £8 10s.
There was a better demand for fat pigs as the entry was not very large aud prices were correspondingly firmer. There was a moderate entry of store pigs and prices showed a decline as the demand was dull. Choppers sold up to 575. large baconers 4:7s 6d to 535, and lighter 37s 6d to 455, equal to 4d per lb.: large porkers 31s to 355, and smaller 25s to 30s, equal to 4-Jd per lb. Large stores 23s to 2<s, medium 14s to 216. weaners 3s 6d to 6s for small up to '9s 6d for extra good sorts.
