Notes and Comments.
"I would not f>t ay under any consideration!" This is the verdict of Mr John McMeuamen, a member of a well-known Wellington family of farmers, who has just returned from a visit to Argentina. Mr McMenamen, who w<?nt across to the South American republic avowedly to spy out the land, was impressed by the quality ot its land, but he disliked the Angeii-t-inos and he declares the Government to be "no good." The farmer from T-orawhiti met a good many New Zealanders over there, but practically all of them are dissatisfied. They had gone into speculations before finding out the ways of the country, and consequently had "fallen in." They say they will return to New Zealand ;.s soon as they get back what they have lost—if that ever happens. Feikling farmers will be especially interested to learn that Mr McMenamen is convinced New Zealaiiders have no cause to fear Argentinos ixa rivals. Their meat has no flavour, "it is like eating dried sticks." The sheep are very poor. The cattle are fine, but their flesh poor. And Mr McMcinimen is a sane and (sound judge of both sheep and cattle.
