A NEW ZEALANDER DROWNED AT FIJI. (rER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, Sept. 12. News was received by the Moura from Fiji to-day of a drowning case ; about two weeks ago. A young man named Cow arty went to Mr Fisher's place at Buca Bay, and purchased an : lot'b sailing boat, in which he, with a Fijian, left for Natura Bay. A squall was encountered before that place was reached, and the boat was capsized, and sank about a mile off shore. The Fijian succeeded in Teach- ' ing land in an exhausted condition, j He reported that Mr Cowarty could • not swim, 'and though he (the native) ; did everything he could to save him, he had finally to let him drown in : order to save himself. Mr Fisher states that Cowarty was a New Zea'anuer. He was about 2-5 years of age, and had been in Fiji about three or four months only.
