EURTHER RESuLTS OF COMMIT- ...,■; TEE ELECTIONS.;

On page 4 of to-day's Star will he found results of school committee elections held in Feilding and district last night. We continue the list hereunder. OHAKEA.

There was a fair attendance at the meeting. The outgoing committee reported that the school is still in a good position financially. The year began with a credit balance of £10 :6s Bd, during the year this was increased by grants from the Board and by funds received from the Ball Committee to £54 16s lid. Various improvements to the grounds and buildings have been carried out, leaving a credit balance of £10. 19s 6d. The school was again successful in various competitions, having received £2 10s in prize money for a display at the Winter Show in Palmerston. At the Spring .Show three children won prizes for work exhibited. At the Feilding Show two prizes for vegetables were gained, and two more were won at the Feilding Flower Show. Three scholars were presented for the Standard VI. examination, and all gained proficiency certificates. One of these has since left the school and is attending the Bulls District High School. The other two are continuing their studies under Mr Gabites. The inspectors have paid two visits during the year, their reports heing very favourable. Committee —Matthew Tremaine, G. HALCOMBE

At the householders', meeting, Mr A. C. Burcham presided. The report and balance-sheet was read and adopted. The former complimented the teaching staff and protested against the reduction of the building maintenance grant to Education Boards, and also the special capitation grant of 9d per head to school committees, which protests the householders unanimously endorsed. The "balance-sheet showed a debit balance of £17 6s Gd. ...The following were nominated as a --'committee for the ensuing term and elected without resort to the ballot: Messrs A..McElrov, J. L. McDonald, P. Eichter, AY. Williams, J. Adam.: E. Thomas, and A. C. Burcham. At a subsequent meeting of the . committee, Mr Burcham was elected chairman, Mr Adam secretary, and Mr McDonald treasurer. WAITOHI. At the meeting of householders of the Waitohi school district, held in the school yesterday evening, the 25th hist., the following were elected a committee: Messrs T. Gifford, S. Penny, J. Henson, S. Hammond, and A- Bowater. The balance-sheet, duly.-- audited, pPehowing balance in hand of £18 ls 7d, f was read. . Mr J.. Henson was re-elected chairman of the committee. UTUWAI. The following Committee was elected: Messrs Thos. Currie (Chairman), John Cheyne, W. F. Romley, Wm. Currie; Geo. Hart. The credit balance was £3 los. POHANGINA. There was a good attendance for the anirual election of School Committee.. The report (published on page 4) was read and adopted. Mr L. •Watkin, Director of the Feilding TechSchool, addressed the meeting on technical matters, and had a good reception, and it was decided that Mr A.. A. Wagstaff proceed to Wanganui to ask the Board to immediately equip the technical school. It was decided that the incoming Committee be asked to favourably consider the introduction of Biblereading in schools. A strong protest was entered against the action of the Government iir reducing the capitation of school committees. ' • The following committee was elected : Messrs A. A. Wagstaff (Chairman), F. Moore (treasurer), Geo. Wagstaff, F. Tyer, L. Bell', T. Sinclair, S. Klink. KIMBOLTON. At the meeting of householders held at Kimbolton there was a very meagre attendance, only six householders being present. The chairman of the outgoing Committee, Mr E. H. Crabb, presided, and in opening the meeting expressed regret at the apathy shown by parents in such an.important matter. In submitting the balance-sheet, he pointed out that a sum of over £20 had been collected and expended on necessary works at the school, this being in addition to the capitation reward, which of itself was quite inadequate to provide for the routine requirements. A paddock had been provided for the children's horses and securely fenced, funds for Avhich had been entirely provided by the public. In addition, the Board, sit the request of the Committee, had lined the poreh&i, and tlie" school had been painted. The committee could congratulate themselves on handing over both school and grounds in first-class con l dition. He expressed regret at the intended retirement of so many of the members, and especially regretted that of Mr Baddeley, who had been a committeeman for some years past, and had always worked hard for the school. Committee elected—Messrs Berry, Crabb, Pratt and Curtayne. There not being sufficient nominations to fill vacancies, it will rest with the Board to appoint the balance of the Committee. A resolution was adopted protesting strongly against the Government cutting down the building grants and the capitation allowance. AWAHURI. Committee.—Messrs W. E. Bosher, the retiring chairman, has occupied the chair for seven years, and Mr C. J. Hart has been secretary for ten years. FOXTON. The following Committee was elected: Mr J. R. Hornblow (Chairman), Mr Betty (Secretary), Messrs Aitken. Bullard, G. Coley, Hussey, Levett," A. Spiers, and Henderson. The School Committee election here was fought on the straight-out issue of Bible-reading ill schools. 'Each side nominated a full ticket, grest interest was taken in the contest, and a big poll was recorded. The party favouring the maintenance of the secular system secured tihe return of all its nine conimitteemen, and had its tenth man at the top of the rejected candidates,. Wocdville, April 26. The meeting of householders last night unanimously decided to charge High School scholars one shilling each and scholars in upper Standards sixpence each per quarter for stationery.
