Notes and Comments.

The motto of the Stah is: •"•The Farmers' Journal." That this is recognised we have had frequent evidence. Further proof is given in a letter from ''■'Advanced Agriculturist" which appears on page 1 of to-day'.s issue. The subject of the letter'is the action of the Minister of Agriculture in regard 'to tho State Farms at Moiimahaki. and Ruakura, .where splendid work was being done before the Hon. Thois. Mackenzie took charge of the department. We have already /published several letters upon this subject, and it stands to the ■credit of the Stak that our communications have come .from practical farmers residing in the Taranaki ■and the Wanganui. districts. The one which we publish to-day comes from .north of Wanganui,_ and ■•Advanced Agriculturist" lias been moved to write us because, like our other correspondents, ho recognises that the Star is a fa.ir-miudcd journal, is an <advocate of the legitimate grievances of farmers, and because tho farmers of the Feilding district hav;> .always taken a 'keen .interest in tho practical possibilities of our State farms. It is .matter for great regret that someone .continues to blunder in regard to the method of conducting these ifanns. in that they havo ceased to be experimental stations.
