It is notified in another column by the Secretary of the Manawatu Racing Club (Mr J. AT. Johnston) that nominations for the Club's April meeting close to-morrow night at 10 o'clock. Owners, make a note of it. H. Telford, who is attached to the Porirua- stable, now heads the list of Winning jockeys -over hurdles. H. Gray still leads on the flat, but he is being closely followed by 'A. Olliver, who promises to dispute the- supremacy -at the end of the season with tbe Auckland rider. Although the new Race Meetings Act does not come- into force mVtil April 1, a large number of annlications for permits under the regulations have been made. Tbe Hor?. D. Buddo told a Dominion reporter yesterday that an application in respect of. a meeting in the Rangitata district on April 7 bad been granted. Other applications were, bo said, being reported upon by magistrates in ; various districts. He added that the actual permits could no.t bo issued until after tlie Act came into operation.
