Payne, an English student at Freiberg, in Saxony, has been sentenced to four months' imprisonment and fined 80 marks for fighting a duel and resisting arrest. The affair originated over a quarrel in a cafe with a Lieutenant in the army, who drew his sword. Payne struck him, and a duel followed. Tho Lieutenant was cashiered.
