TOWN v. COUNTRY.
Yesterday a cricket match was played on the South Street reserve between teams picked from members *,t r the J'eildinir (Social) uiub, representing tho town and country respectively. 'A good, even contest was £he result. The town team, captained by D. M. Montgomery, occupied the wickets: first and made the respectable score of 159 batting, twelve - men Montgomery contributed 58 in a rattling innings, which included a sixer and seven fourers. Cotterill (2}), Clayton (20), and Roberts (19) also showed good form, and pushed the score along while they remained at tho wickets. The reply to this score by the country men was 140, battin" eleven men, with Mr J. R. Mackn™ nan as skipper. Wheeler topped tlir .sco-re with a capital contributions .>f /|. .
