Wellington, March 7. The following is the weekly cable.gram from .the High Commissioner, dated London, March 5: — ''-'"-... Ther.e is a better demand for mutton. Stocks in hand are light, and firmly held in a few hands. Average .price: Canterbury mutton 4M, North Island 3|d. The lamb market is very firm, and there is great competition to secure the moderate supplies going forward. Prospects are rather more encouraging. Canterbury is averaging ssd, and other New Zealand lamb sd. The beef market is quiet, but firm. Buyers are making forward pur-chases "- at present prices. The supply ie small, but constant. New Zealand beef: Hindquarters 3£, forequarters X 3jd. ';. TJie butter market is very firm. There is" a brisk demand, and buyers -;/ are waiting for supplies.
