It has always been thought that Lee's line was more than a blind road and that there should be an outlet ■fro mthe Awahiiri' to the Halcombe road by Lee's line. Judging by a letter received from Mr E. J. Riddiford at 'the Manawatu County Council today, it was ascertained "that there 's little doubt of this, but to make sure the authorities in AVellingtoii are to be written to. It was stated there was a plantation and orchard on the hue of road, which are the property of the Council, so that only a wheelbarrow will be necessary to give the county revenue a big increase by the sale of the fruit,

At the meeting of the Manawatu County Council to-day a circular was read from the AVollinsiton Prisoners' Aid Society, pointing" out that the society assisted discharged prisoners from tho Manawatu district, and asking the Council to give a donation to the funds. It was decided to open a subscription list at the Council office It is strange that in the report of the society it is shown that a donation of £2o was received from the Kairanga County Council. AVhether this is a.clerical error or the Connci lhas strained the law- in giving the dona, tion is not at present apparent.
