Rumour also had it that Sir John was to be | elevated to the peerage. -Sir Arthur I Wilson, who is said to be a naval ; ,<traiegi*t of a high order, is 67 years ot age. lie served in the Crimean War. in the Chinese AVar of 1865, and I in Kgypt and the Soudan. He was I a Lord Commissioner of the Admir--1 altv and Comptroller of tire Navy i Imm 1 897 to .190.1 ; was then appointed to the command of the Channel Sijiudron. and two years later was I appointed Commander-iii-Chief of the 1 Home and Channel fleets.
