Fin 's Weather Finish SUOU-SiFUL Att.filUG. Ihe Feilding Club Has a Very Good Season. LARGE FIELDS ALL THROUGH. DETAILS OF YESTERDAY'S 11AC1NG. The 1909 Spring Meeting of the Feikling. Jockey Club was brought to a successful close yesterday afternoon before another large attendance ol the public. The meeting throughout was marked by big fields and sonic good racing, and experienced sportsmen declared that the Club maintained its record for providing a high and interesting standard of racing, with the best of management and good, clean sport. "With'tho exception of a light fall of rain just before the races started on Tuesday, the meeting was. favoured with exceptionally good weather, and visitors from afar thoroughly enjoyed their outing. It iwas evident from the amount of money that was put through the totalisator and the bookmakers that there was no. scarcity of money amongst 'the patrons of tho two days'" races in i»gThe totalisator investments for the meeting show a slight increase over those of the cor.respondi.ng meeting last year. With the exception of Golden Eagle and Bliss, who were left two or three lengths, the horses went oil: together, Nyland taking command soon after the start, followed by Miss Win- j nie. Bliss raced up alongside of the i leader round the bend, but soon retired. Sir Antrim then put in a challenge, but he could not catch Nyland, who won by two lengths, Sharpshooter a length away third, Golden Eagle last. Time. 1.14 3-sths. Waiouru, Shannon Lass, and Toanga were leading for a furlong, when Waiouru took charge and had a couple of lengths lead on entering the straight. The field then closed up, j and Waiouru dropped back. The field was despatched to a. good start and when the stand was passed Kilwinning, Waitapu, and Truganim were at the head of affairs, Mendip being last. At the six furlong post Merrivonia. improved her position, running into third place. Kilwinning and Truganini were still in front turning for home, Paisano lying handy. Half way up -the , straight Merrivonia came again, and catching Kilwinning boat him home by two lengths. _ A length separated second and third horses. Time 2.8 3-5. Tyrannic led the field for a mile, when he was passed by Feu-de-Joie and Reumac, and this pair, under the whip, fought out the last quarter of a mile neck-and-neck, Feu-de-Joio winning on the post by a head, Whisker half-a-dozen lengths away third.
