The Feilding Star. Oroua and Kiwi tea Counties' Gazette. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21, 1909. The Technical School.

It will be gratifying to all those interested in the technical education of the young hi this district to know that the Feilding Technical School has opened the year extremely well. I The number of pupils on the roll and the average attendance at the differ- ' cnt classes is from 50 to 100 per" cent. ' better than last year's best period, ' and, so far as can be judged at present, the income this year will be practically equal to the cost of running the institution. As the Director points out in his monthly report, published on our fourth page to-day, a large number of the pupils are taking approved courses, instead of taking subjects at haphazard; and this is a Eource of satisfaction to the Director and the teachers, as it is the only way to make technical education completely beneficial. The Committee are endeavouring to start a wool-classing class, aiid in other ways to meet tho requirements of country residents. Every support should be given them i:i their good work, as the, success of the Technical School means a great deal to the whole district in every way.
