Butter is down to an average of 9.54 d per lb, or roughly, 9£d, while the outputs of many factories were purchased at the beginning of the season at an average of lljd per lb. . On this basis the loss is lfd per lb, or, roughly, £17 10s per ton. In addition to tho butter already on the market, there are heavy shipments afloat — perhaps tho heaviest that have been shipped from New Zealand at tliis time of the season since the in- " dustry started.
